Exclusion Notices and Clearance Certificates are not issued by the Health Board for the diseases outlined below.
Pupils who have these diseases may, therefore, return to school when they are fit.
The normal infectious period is shown below but pupils may not be well enough to return to school until a longer period has elapsed.

When pupils have suffered from diahorrea, we would request that they remain clear of this for a 48 hour period before returning to school.
TUBERCULOSIS:
Most cases of Tuberculosis in pupils of school age are of a non-infectious nature and they can attend school without risks to others. Contacts are not excluded. All home contacts are investigated by the Community Services. When an infectious case, either pupil or staff, has been attending school, investigation of school contacts may be arranged by the Community Medicine Specialist. Specialist physicians will instruct certain cases to stay off school and advise them when they should return. Teachers can obtain advice from the appropriate Community Medicine Specialist.
COMMUNICABLE DISEASES OF THE SKIN
Pupils suffering from skin diseases should normally stay off school for the period indicated. Family doctors or Clinical Medical Officers may instruct cases to stay off school. Exclusion Notices and Clearance Certificates will not be issued.
