Junior 5

Generation Science visited J5 to run a Lego Mindstorm Challenge which is a hands on, interactive workshop which allows pupils to programme their own robots. The class explored what a robot is and why they are useful, what the term programming means and how robots work. Following an introduction to the specialist programming softwear, pupils work in small groups to programme their group’s robot. They use their new programming knowledge and problem-solving skills to make their robot complete a number of challenges, each more complicated than the last. J5 children rose to the challenge and had great fun!

During their trip to York the Junior 5 classes spent the day living as peasants in the Middle Ages. They had guard duty to do, fields to tend and candles to make. Great fun was had by all, despite the cold weather!
