Junior 1

Junior 1 enjoyed their outing to Barshaw Park last week as part of their topic.

We saw the layout of the park from the top of the hill.  We then visited the Walled Garden and the Nature Corner where we saw a Rhea and a very noisy peacock.  We rounded off the trip with a visit to the play area.  When we arrived back at school we made our own maps of the park.

Both Junior 1 classes held their Grandparents’ Afternoons recently.  They welcomed their Grandparents and Grandfriends and entertained them with some songs and poems they had been learning.

They read stories to their visitors and showed them round their classroom.  They got to see all their hard work on the classroom walls.

The Junior 1 finale of ‘You Canny Shove Your Granny Aff A Bus’ went down well with all the Grannys, Grandpas and Grandfriends!

The charity that the children chose to support on this occasion was the RNLI and the sum of £380 was collected.

Junior 1 visited Loch Lomond Aquarium recently and learned lots of interesting facts about sea animals.  They got to touch starfish, crabs and sea urchins.

Junior 1 have been learning about Road Safety.  They made lollipop sticks and took them out to the playground to practise crossing the road safely.  They took turns holding the lollipop.

Junior 1 had a great time at their Christmas Lunch and Party held on 20th December 2012.  They danced and played games and thoroughly enjoyed their ice lollies at the end of the party.
